Wow, it’s been more than a minute since I met Sage in @oh_minna She was an amazing storyteller for me, sharing the ethos behind this captivating and tranquil shop on Warren street in Hudson… and past exhibitor at @ny_now by the way. Presenting an assortment of home goods and personal care, MINNA is a tight-knit team of artists, creators, and thinkers. They are a queer led business which informs their approach to just about everything they do. They believe in creating beautiful, ethically made products and using business to do good.
Sara, MINNA’s founder works collaboratively with master artisans in Central and South America to create multipurpose products which ensures craft preservation and job creation in these regions. The patterns, colors, and textures are meant to be mixed, matched, and layered for today’s modern home. Designs are informed and inspired by Feminist art, the Bauhaus, traditional craft, and vintage textiles.
MINNA grew out of Sara’s art practice and her desire to use design to create impact and the name MINNA comes from Sara’s maternal grandmother’s name, dropped upon her arrival to the United States from Germany in 1940. Sara loved this story: nostalgic with a touch of rebellion.
