Meet Flora Obscura
As an artist it is my intention to bring others joy and comfort through my work—and perhaps a bit of wonder. Alison Kelly creates fine functional textiles under the guise Flora Obscura. She decorates plain white cloth with leaves and flowers, then tightly wraps them to be steamed in an alchemical heating process, during time the detail, shadow and pigmentation of flora is directly transmuted into the cloth.
Dynamic and singular, Flora Obscura’s one-of-a-kind botanical textiles are transformed into whimsical apparel and home decor goods which have been strategically cut from zero-waste design templates. The timeless rectangular silhouettes are the ideal template for displaying the harmony and discord of each uniquely flower-dyed piece.
