NEW YORK, NY. — February 7, 2018 — NY NOW®, the Market for Home, Lifestyle + Gift, is excited to announce the winners of its semi-annual Eco Choice Awards as well as the recipient for the Best Exclusive Launch Award. The winners were selected from the sustainability: design for a better world® and destination:new product displays, respectively.

“The product displays at NY NOW are always a hit because they highlight two areas that buyers are increasingly interested in when shopping for their stores – new launches and products that are eco-conscious,” said Randi Mohr, NY NOW Show Director and Emerald Expositions Vice President. “We’re pleased to spotlight the outstanding accomplishments of this Market’s Eco Choice and Best Exclusive Launch Award winners as we know they will be just what buyers are looking for!”

NY NOW’s Eco Choice Awards
NY NOW’s sustainability: design for a better world® product display attracted submissions from all three collections – HOME, LIFESTYLE and HANDMADE – of the expansive winter 2018 market. Each entry underwent a rigorous qualifying process before being selected for inclusion in the curated product display. All participating products in the display were eligible for the Eco Choice Awards program. The winners are:

      •      Most Innovative: Nexten Pro Inc. (Tabletop + Gourmet Housewares, Booth
#3447) for its Minimal Natural Fiber Salad/Bento Box.
      •      Most Sensitive Use of Materials: Itza Wood (Handmade® Global Design,
Booth #640) for its Exotic Wood Serving Board.
      •      Most Sellable: Shupaca (Handmade® Global Design,Booth #100) for its Alpaca
Throw & Blanket.

Entries were evaluated onsite at NY NOW earlier this week by a panel of retail and industry expert judges that included Lawton Hall of Eco Home; Ashesh Patel of Hatch/EcoModern Lifestyle; and Susan A. Tucker of BYDYZNE Consulting/IFDA. The winning products will remain on display in NY NOW’s sustainability: design for a better world® exhibit for the duration of the Market; each product is showcased alongside details about their provenance and production process. These “back-stories” highlight the green elements of the production process such as the use of renewable or alternative sources of energy in production, including wind, sun, and alternative fuels.

NY NOW’s “Best Exclusive Launch” Award
NY NOW also announced today the winner of its “Best Exclusive Launch” Award. This honor recognizes a standout product that is making its official debut exclusively at the winter 2018 market and was selected as part of the destination:new product display. The winner is:

      •      Best Exclusive Launch: · Manhattan Collection from Harlow & Grey,
represented by Karen Alweil Studio (Booth #QUAD3)

All entries were judged by a panel of industry experts and members of the media including Hana Alberts of New York Post; Francesco Bilotto, Celebrity Interior Designer; Kana Sugamori of OK! Magazine Japan; and Paul Vitale of Sweet Paul Magazine.
