Robert Stolarik, founder, and creator of one eighty five™, will be demonstrating how he makes his hand-crafted custom journals. Robert makes each individual journal one by one and will be revealing his unique stitching process derived from classic bookmaking techniques. Robert will be sewing signatures. Each signature is compiled of several sheets of hand-torn, hand-scored folded paper. The sewing process involves using a blunt-tipped needle to join multiple signatures together with waxed Irish thread. Each signature is combined to create a book block which is then attached to a hand-made cover. Robert Stolarik is an artist and an award-winning veteran photojournalist. Born in New York City, Robert was a regular contributor to The New York Times for twenty years.”
